As a child seeing the “God is my co-pilot” bumper sticker, I fixated on the idea of God literally riding in the passenger seat of some random guy’s Buick LeSabre, as this vehicle slogged through a low-key rush hour in Durham, North Carolina.

If you’re not willing to drag your family out of bed before the sun rises like the Great Santini, forcing them into the car without washing so that you can leave that much earlier, just don’t plan to leave the house.

I don’t care for Rihanna’s cheesy song, “Shut Up and Drive,” but I do like it as advice for people who think driving is the optimum time to get on their @#$! cell phones.
