about: Organic Electricity
Monday, July 4th, 2005
To give credit where credit is due, the current Nate On The Mic tagline phrase “Organic electricity since way back” comes from the ultimate poster child of independent hip hop, the patron saint of time travelling MCs, the man who would like you to give him five feet of personal space all around the world, Aceyalone.
Acey spit the following hotness on his song, “Organic Electricity,” outlining some modest goals about exploring the final frontier in your own head. Check it.
As I stand in place, as the center of my galaxy
I AM, ORGANIC ELECTRICITY
My eyelids expose, the circumfrence
My mind tends to bend, parameters!
Unparalleled, chaotic!
Mind fairy tale, psychotic
Lifespan, infinity
I am, ORGANIC ELECTRICITY
Equality and harmony, transmit
Contact shockwave, I’M HIT!
Program exchange, compute
Reformat hard drive, comply
Quantum leap time travel, exist
Exiting the exodus, connect
Brainchild nucleus, reality
I am, ORGANIC ELECTRICITY
All that has ever been, I shall be
And all that will come to be, I will become
God word radiate, authenticity
I am, ORGANIC ELECTRICITY- Aceyalone, “Organic Electricity” (2003)
On that self-referential note, here is an overview of the key features of this blog, provided by the tight, open source, easy-to-install blog software Wordpress.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication)
Nate On The Mic provides an RSS feed for recent articles and recent comments. Links to the feeds are displayed in the footer of each page.
Using an RSS reader, the feeds can be used to view “What’s New” on the blog. Many RSS readers, such as Apple’s Safari, will automatically alert you to updated content without you having to access the full site by tracking RSS feed. Another common feature, also in Safari, is to provide an alternate interface for headline viewing that allows you to change the sort and restrict display of articles to a limited timeframe.
Navigation
The sidebar provides “Archive” widgets that list of posts by month and category. Hover your mouse over the category to see their whimsical descriptions. Categories also appear below each post, sans whimsy.
I really enjoy the comments you guys post — post more! To make comments easier to find, the most recent are displayed in the sidebar of the home page. Comments can also be accessed via the “comments” link below each article.
If additional posts are available in a given list, “previous” and “next” links appear at the bottom of the screen to move chronologically backwards or forwards, respectively.
Failing the pre-packaged nav, those of you who are fed up with poor information architecture on the Web can jump straight to the full text search available at the top of the sidebar on the home page.
Perma-posts
I have been wondering lately about the relevance of the study of Web usability to blogs. In the spirit of usability, Blog Biz presents a few posts to help new readers use and understand the concept of this blog. In addition, a few posts that deserve permanent front page shine are listed here.
Blogroll
Check out xfn, a cool and simple method to represent a social network in hyperlinks, using the “rel” attribute within anchor tags. Surely someone will eventually come out with a web relationship map based on xfn.
On the blogroll are peeps sharing real deal, creative blog styles for your ass, flowing deep and wide … which reminds me of another amazing Aceyalone quote.
Now everybody up, odd man in
Fin’ to play a game of Russian roulette and God’s fin’ to win”- Aceyalone, “Deep and Wide”, 1995
Peace!
